Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Did you know you could lower your heating and cooling cost for your home or office by 90%?
Please be our guest and join together with other thought leaders invested in the sustainable future of Philadelphia for an intimate luncheon on Passive House Standard (for more facts see the Passive House Concepts Sheet).
Passive House is an energy-centric building standard that sets goals that are approximately 90% more efficient than a typical code building. Do not be misled by the name Passive House. The standard is applicable to both new and retrofit commercial and residential properties. Over the last 15 years close to 20,000 buildings have been certified as meeting Passive House Standards worldwide. Passive House is just getting started in the US.
Why is this pertinent for Philadelphia? Most of Philadelphia’s buildings are not eligible for either LEED or Energy Star
If we are to reduce our citywide energy use by 10%, how many buildings need to meet Energy Star (15-25% reduction) vs. Passive House (85-90% reduction)? Passive House solutions are mostly low tech and permanently enhance the value of the property. These are just a couple reasons why we are so excited about what Passive House offers. It presents great opportunity to wisely invest precious dollars for long-term gain and meet the Greenworks Philadelphia’s 2015 goals.
Your attendance is important to us; we hope you can join us in December. We are limited to 10 people per session, so please indicate your first and second choices. If you are unable to make these dates but do not want to miss this exciting opportunity please let us know. And please let us know whom to add to our mailing list…friends and colleagues are welcome.
We look forward to telling you more about Passive House and getting your feedback on its potential for Philadelphia!
Sincerely,
Laura Blau AIA, LEED AP
